Kenya and Tanzania in two weeks

This route covers the best of the Great Migration ecosystem and finishes on the beach. It works best from June to October.

The route

  • Days 1 to 2: Nairobi. Arrive, rest, and visit the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphans or the Giraffe Centre.
  • Days 3 to 6: Masai Mara. Fly in; stay in a conservancy for fewer vehicles.
  • Day 7: Fly to Tanzania via Kilimanjaro or a direct Mara to Serengeti routing where available (check border formalities).
  • Days 7 to 10: Serengeti. Northern Serengeti for river crossings in season.
  • Days 11 to 12: Ngorongoro Crater. Drive via the highlands.
  • Days 12 to 14: Zanzibar. Stone Town, then the beach.

Tips

  • Check visa or entry requirements for both countries.
  • Flights between parks save days.
  • Outside July to October, consider the southern Serengeti instead of the Mara.
