Morocco in ten days

This classic loop goes from the souks to the dunes to the medieval medina of Fes.

The route

  • Days 1 to 3: Marrakech. Medina, gardens, a day in the Atlas.
  • Days 4 to 6: Desert road trip. Aït Benhaddou, the Dades Valley, then a night in Merzouga.
  • Days 7 to 8: Fes. With a guide for the first morning.
  • Days 9 to 10: Chefchaouen, then Tangier for onward travel.

Tips

  • Spring and autumn are best.
  • A private driver for the desert crossing is good value shared between a few people.
  • Trains link Fes, Rabat, Casablanca and Tangier, including the high-speed line to Tangier.
