Gorillas and chimps: Rwanda and Uganda

This route crosses the green hills of Rwanda and Uganda to see both of our great ape cousins.

The route

  • Days 1 to 2: Kigali. The Kigali Genocide Memorial and the city.
  • Days 3 to 4: Volcanoes National Park. Golden monkeys, then gorillas.
  • Days 5 to 6: Cross to Bwindi for a second gorilla trek or a community walk.
  • Days 7 to 8: Queen Elizabeth National Park. Boat trip on the Kazinga Channel and the Ishasha lions.
  • Days 9 to 10: Kibale for chimpanzees, then Entebbe.

Tips

  • Book gorilla permits first, then build the trip around them.
  • Dry seasons are best, but treks run all year.
